Winter Farewell Salsa Party!
It’s time to say goodbye to the coldest winter in over sixty years…
Plus it’s Aaron’s (21/08) and Omid’s (23/08) birthdays – our two awesome salsa instructors…
Plus it’s Kari’s last class with us as a guest instructor…
So come along and celebrate with us!
As usual there will be a beginners’ class at around 8.15pm, Kari will be sharing with us some of her super cool bachata skills from 8.45pm and then we will have approximately 2 hours of social dancing.
To add to the excitement, I will be bringing my DJ-ing equipment and playing a selection of salsa, pop, R&B, hip hop and bachata tunes.
The price is still the same $3.00 and we would like to encourage you to bring some food and / or drink to share.
Please note, for insurance purposes we are not allowed to have alcohol on the premises as this would require us to hire security guards and that would be a pain in a-hole.
FYI we have had some complaints in the past regarding people making too much noise around the car park behind the community centre and also because of the litter that was left behind (mainly cans of beer and spirits) so if you decide to come and / or invite anyone along, be sure to let them know that alcohol will not be tolerated inside or around the community centre and please stay away from the car park behind the community centre! This is for everyone’s benefit so that we can continue to run salsa classes and parties for you.
When: Friday the 27th of August 2010 from 8pm until midnight.
Where: The North Adelaide Community Centre, 176 Tynte Street NORTH ADELAIDE SA 5006.

Kari Bowling
For The Love Of Bachata! Guest Instructor For August 2010 – Kari Bowling – Latin Dance Nation
Our guest instructor for August 2010 will be Kari Bowling…
“Kari Bowling is a principal dancer, instructor, performer and choreographer at Latin Dance Nation in Adelaide.
Kari began dancing at a young age, yet it wasn’t until discovering latin dance in her first year of university that she started to take her dancing seriously. After only a year of salsa classes with a number of Adelaide’s leading latin dance schools, Kari took off to travel and study dance in Latin America. She spent 5 months living in a number of Caribbean countries studying traditional latin dance forms, including learning son in Cuba and bachata in the Dominican Republic.
Upon returning to Australia, Kari began training as an instructor and was soon teaching freelance around Adelaide, both for dance schools and private classes. In 2008 she won the amateur division of the SA Australian Salsa Classic titles and also received the overall highest score. In 2009, with her current dance partner Johan Haris, she became the South Australian Bachata Champion (a title the duo look forward to defending at this year’s competition).
Kari now teaches for Latin Dance Nation 6 days a week , including salsa, bachata, zouk, samba de gafieira and Zumba but has been invited to teach and perform both interstate and overseas. In April 2010 Kari and Johan represented SA at the Sydney International Bachata Festival with a solo performance, pro team show and as instructors of Bachata Moderna (a style taught by very few instructors around Australia). In 2011 they will be teaching and performing both at the Sydney International Bachata Festival and in Los Angeles at the LA Bachata Festival.”
Kari will be teaching four classes on behalf of the Hybrid Kinetic Dance Group:
- Friday the 6th of August 2010.
- Friday the 13th of August 2010.
- Friday the 20th of August 2010.
- Friday the 27th of August 2010.
From 8.45pm to 9.45pm at the North Adelaide Community Centre, enjoy.
Cheers
